Rawalpindi: (RightNow) Torrential rain has dangerously raised the water level in Nala Lai. Evacuations have begun in Gawalmandi and Katarian areas.

Overnight rain has continuously increased the water level in Nala Lai. Authorities have declared an emergency in Rawalpindi and Islamabad due to flood threats.

The district administration has sought assistance from the army to handle the emergency. At Katarian, the water level in Nala Lai has reached 22 feet.

An alert has been issued for low-lying areas due to rising water levels. Citizens are being moved to safer locations and advised to take precautions.

It is noteworthy that Islamabad and Rawalpindi have received up to 113 mm of rain. Rainfall records in Golra, Saidpur, and other locations are significant.
