Rawalpindi: (RightNow) Following a fire at Islamabad’s PIMS Hospital that resulted in the deaths of 15 newborns, rescue officials have warned that major hospitals in Rawalpindi are also at risk of fire hazards.

According to rescue officials, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Holy Family Hospital lack complete fire safety systems. Officials state that these hospitals are missing fire detection systems.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed sorrow over the PIMS fire incident and ordered an immediate investigation. Officials report that the PKLI Urology Hospital’s fire safety system is also non-functional.

Emergency exits in these hospitals are almost non-existent. Where exits do exist, they are either locked or blocked, increasing the risk further.

It is noteworthy that at PIMS Hospital, a nebulizer exploded near an incubator, causing oxygen to catch fire, leading to this tragic incident.
