Madrid: (RightNow) Spain announces military deployment to Ceuta’s border with Morocco to restore order. Thousands of migrants have entered the city illegally, resulting in at least 9 deaths.

This decision follows a request for assistance from local authorities in Ceuta. A large crowd from Morocco breached the border fence to enter Spain.

The Spanish government states that armed forces will join the Civil Guard in Ceuta to maintain security. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Interior Minister Fernando Grande will visit Ceuta on Friday.

The head of the Civil Guard officers’ association describes the situation as complete chaos. He mentions that while exact numbers are unclear, thousands of migrants are crossing the border.
