Islamabad: (RightNow) The Central Power Purchasing Agency has submitted a request to NEPRA to increase electricity prices. The proposal seeks a hike of Rs 1.20 per unit.

This request is made under the fuel price adjustment for June. NEPRA will hold a hearing on this request on July 29.

Sources indicate that if approved, consumers will face an additional burden of over Rs 18 billion. This decision will affect consumers nationwide, including K-Electric.

This move could exacerbate public difficulties as inflation is already a concern. The increase in electricity prices will add to the financial challenges faced by the public.

It is noteworthy that electricity price hikes are often related to fuel price adjustments aimed at covering additional costs.
