Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman demands the end of petroleum levy, highlighting inflation impacts and accusing rulers of ignoring public issues.
Karachi: (RightNow) Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman expresses concern over inflation and unemployment in Karachi. He states that the business community is also troubled by rising prices.
Speaking at 5 Star Chowrangi, Hafiz Naeem highlights that increased petroleum levy and taxes are affecting prices of all goods. He mentions that Jamaat-e-Islami has raised its voice against IPPs.
He claims that the Iran-US conflict is used as an excuse to increase the petroleum levy instead of providing relief to the public. He notes that an 80 rupees per liter levy is still being charged.
Hafiz Naeem accuses the rulers of protecting each other while the public bears the burden of inflation. He demands the complete removal of the petroleum levy to provide relief to the people.
It is noteworthy that Jamaat-e-Islami has postponed its protest movement. They plan to have clear discussions with the government upon the Prime Minister’s return. They have also raised questions about Sindh’s education system.
