Lahore: (RightNow) Authorities have decided to downgrade mobile and internet services in the Rawalpindi region starting September 27. Punjab’s Home Department has sent a letter to the Federal Ministry of Interior.

The letter requests jamming of 2G, 3G, and 4G networks at specific locations in Rawalpindi. Recommendations have also been made to downgrade services in Attock.

This decision is made at the request of the police to maintain law and order. Some areas of the motorway will also experience jamming.

The action is in response to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) announced protest and march on September 27. During this time, the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway will be partially closed.

It is important to note that the motorway police have announced the closure of various interchanges. An alternative route via GT Road has been designated for large vehicles.
