Karachi: (RightNow) Goods transport fares have increased by 7% due to the rise in petroleum prices. This announcement was made by Malik Shehzad Awan, President of the All Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance.

Malik Shehzad Awan stated in a video message that diesel prices have risen by Rs 26.88 and petrol by Rs 20 per liter in the last 7 days. As a result, the fare increase was inevitable.

He mentioned that the daily fluctuation in petroleum prices is unacceptable. The federal government is urged to immediately reverse the price hike decision.

Malik Shehzad Awan further stated that due to the government’s flawed policies, transporters are becoming unemployed. He called for subsidies and tax relief for transporters to sustain their businesses.

It is noteworthy that from August 8 to August 17, the government made agreements during a strike, which are nearing expiration. If these agreements are not implemented, a nationwide strike will be initiated.
