Islamabad: (RightNow). Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal proposes creating 15 new provinces in Pakistan. He states the current system is not delivering and suggests dividing each province into three parts.

Ahsan Iqbal emphasizes the need for political consensus for establishing new provinces and calls for initiating a national and political debate. He stresses the necessity of forming a review committee.

The Chief Minister of Sindh, speaking in the Sindh Assembly, asserts that Sindh’s future cannot be decided elsewhere, expressing concern over discussions on irrelevant forums.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif labels the current administrative structure as outdated and stresses the need for creating administrative units. Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Ehsan Afzal Khan mentions that no decision is currently under consideration.

It is noteworthy that the debate on new provinces began after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s statement on the system’s collapse. The Sindh Assembly passed a resolution against new provinces, during which the opposition staged a walkout.
