Islamabad: (RightNow) Electricity consumers across the country may face increased bills from September as the Rs 1.99 per unit relief ends.

Details reveal that consumers were given relief exceeding Rs 67.17 billion under the January to March 2026 quarterly adjustment, which will end in August. An increase in electricity tariffs is expected thereafter.

Electricity distribution companies have requested NEPRA to recover over Rs 23 billion under the April to June 2026 quarterly adjustment.

If the new adjustment is approved, consumers may bear an additional burden of approximately Rs 1 per unit, with the final amount to be determined after NEPRA’s hearing.

It is noteworthy that NEPRA approved a 75 paisa per unit increase under the June 2026 monthly fuel cost adjustment, which will be charged in August bills.
