Karachi: (RightNow) The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has simplified the approval process for solar systems up to 25 kW. NEPRA has issued a new notification stating that direct approval from NEPRA is no longer required for solar systems up to 25 kW.

Now, the respective electricity distribution companies are authorized to approve these systems, which was previously not possible without NEPRA’s consent. This decision follows amendments in the Solar Regulations 2026.

NEPRA states that this move will further simplify the installation process of solar systems and provide additional convenience to consumers. It is also expected to increase the inclination towards solar energy.

It is important to note that the use of solar energy is increasing in Pakistan, and the government is taking steps to make it more widespread.

Previously, consumers had to undergo a complicated approval process for solar systems, which resulted in a waste of both time and money.
