Karachi: (RightNow) Additional IG Azad Khan states Karachi lacks a public transport system, resulting in 4.6 million motorcycles in the city. He mentioned this during a speech at an event. The city also faces issues like street crime and extortion.

Azad Khan further explained that the region is under the threat of terrorism, and Karachi is not exempt from these dangers. However, police efforts have kept the city safe. He noted that the presence of beggars symbolizes the city’s generosity.

He added that no-go areas in Karachi have been eliminated, and police operations are ongoing in all areas. Community policing and anti-drug efforts are also in progress. Successful actions have been taken against recent crimes.

The police chief expressed the desire to equip the police department with modern technology. Under the Safe City project, 2,000 more cameras are being installed, but this number is insufficient. The city requires more cameras.

It is noteworthy that Karachi faces issues with traffic engineering and road maintenance. Due to the absence of mass transport, 4.6 million motorcycles are present in the city.
