Riyadh: (RightNow) Yemen’s Houthi group, Ansar Allah, claims responsibility for targeting two Saudi oil tankers. The Houthis allege these tankers violated their imposed naval blockade.

According to the Saudi state news agency, a Saudi-owned ship in the Red Sea was targeted, causing a fire at the ship’s front, but the crew remained safe.

The British Maritime Agency reported a fire on a ship 70 nautical miles from Saudi’s Al-Shaqiq coast. The tanker captain stated the fire was caused by a missile strike, but no casualties occurred.

This incident has gained international significance as it could escalate regional tensions. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Houthi action and pledged continued support for the Yemeni people.

It is noteworthy that a few days ago, the Houthi organization announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia. This decision was in response to Saudi Arabia’s blockade on Yemen, which included the unacceptable closure of Sanaa Airport.
