Missile attacks hit two Saudi oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, raising regional tensions.
Strait of Hormuz: (RightNow) Two supertankers carrying Saudi oil have been targeted by missile attacks. One of the tankers was Saudi-flagged, while the other operated under the Liberian flag.
According to shipping intelligence firms Maersk and Kepler, the Saudi vessel was hit 16.6 nautical miles northeast of Oman. The Liberian ship was targeted by three missiles 17 nautical miles east of Khasab.
Maersk stated that both incidents occurred almost simultaneously, heightening the threat environment in the Omani corridor. The crews of both vessels are safe, and no casualties have been reported.
These attacks occurred as Saudi Arabia recently resumed oil loading from the Strait of Hormuz. This could impact oil supply in the region, which is crucial for the global economy.
It is noteworthy that Saudi Aramco restarted oil sales from the Strait of Hormuz in August, potentially escalating tensions in the region.
