Lahore: (RightNow) Transporters have increased fares by up to 10% following a rise in petroleum prices. This hike adds to the burden on the public already struggling with inflation.

After the recent increase in petroleum prices, fares from Lahore to various cities have risen by Rs 80 to Rs 1,000. Transporters have raised concerns over the frequent changes in petroleum pricing.

Transporters state that the continuous rise in fuel prices has increased operating costs. There is also a fear that the fare increase will make essential goods more expensive.

According to Secretary Regional Transport Authority Rana Mohsin, fares were increased minimally after consultation with transporters. Strict action will be taken against those charging above the set rates.

It is noteworthy that repeated increases in petroleum prices have caused severe difficulties for the public, and the rise in transport fares exacerbates these challenges.
