Power outage at Adiala Jail delays charges against Eman Mazari and husband. Next hearing scheduled for tomorrow.
Islamabad: (RightNow) A power outage at Adiala Jail has delayed the filing of charges against Eman Mazari and her husband, Hadi Ali Chattha. The Anti-Terrorism Court was set to hear the case related to breaking the route during the arrival of an international cricket team.
The prosecutor and junior lawyer for the defendants appeared in court. The lawyer requested a new hearing date, citing the unavailability of senior lawyers who were busy in the High Court. The judge noted that charge sheets had already been provided and charges were to be filed today.
The junior lawyer further stated that they were not allowed to meet their clients. The judge remarked that the power of attorney had been signed and court proceedings could not be managed.
The court took a break until 11:30 AM, but due to the power outage, the defendants could not be presented via video link. The judge instructed jail authorities to ensure attendance at the next hearing.
It is noteworthy that a case against Eman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha is registered at the Aabpara Police Station. The hearing has been postponed until tomorrow, when charges are expected to be filed.
