Islamabad: (RightNow) United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has arrived in Islamabad. Acting Foreign Secretary Ambassador Nabeel Munir welcomed him. Guterres is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Antonio Guterres will stay in Pakistan until October 8. During his visit, he will meet President Asif Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

Guterres is also expected to meet Chief of Defense Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. Discussions will focus on regional and global situations, highlighting Pakistan’s efforts for global peace and security.

During the visit, Guterres will be briefed on Pakistan’s disaster management system and advancements in early warning systems.

It is noteworthy that this visit by the UN Secretary-General is part of efforts to further strengthen Pakistan’s role in the international community.
