Islamabad: (RightNow) Federal Energy Minister Owais Laghari reveals that power companies are conducting more load shedding than permitted by the government. This issue was presented at the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Energy meeting.

Owais Laghari stated that the load shedding by DISCOs exceeds the allowed limit. He further mentioned that instead of entire feeders, specific transformers will face load shedding to minimize public inconvenience.

The National Assembly committee meeting also uncovered that demand notices are being manipulated to show lower loads, putting extra pressure on the system.

The Energy Minister claims that the electricity staff is deceiving through bribery, and the real cause of load shedding is DISCOs and their staff. He mentioned that improving DISCOs’ systems requires 60 crore to 1 billion rupees per constituency.

It is noteworthy that due to electricity shortages, load shedding is a major issue in the country. The government and relevant agencies are trying to resolve this problem, but the public has yet to receive complete relief.
