Pakistan raises petroleum prices due to global oil market surge, affecting economy.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Due to rising oil prices in the global market, petroleum product prices in Pakistan have been increased. OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) has announced new prices effective from September 17, 2026.
According to OGRA’s statement, the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 5.62 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs 421.45 per liter. Petrol prices have also risen by Rs 6.88 per liter, setting the new price at Rs 391.22 per liter.
Government sources state that this increase is due to the rise in petroleum product prices in the global market. The government has termed this decision as significant for the national economy.
This increase could have a profound impact on the national economy, as rising petroleum prices generally lead to increases in the prices of other goods. Public reaction has expressed concern over this development.
It is noteworthy that global petroleum product prices often rise due to reduced oil supply in the global market or geopolitical situations.
