Islamabad: (RightNow) Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Yahya Afridi outlines a five-pillar reform agenda for the Supreme Court, including technology, access to justice, transparency, regulatory framework, and institutional accountability.

The opening ceremony of the judicial year 2026-27 was held at the Supreme Court, presided over by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. The event was attended by Supreme Court judges, the Attorney General, and representatives from the Pakistan Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar Association.

Chief Justice Afridi highlighted the Supreme Court’s reform initiatives, reaffirming the commitment to efficient judicial services and timely justice delivery. He stated that institutional accountability is essential alongside judicial independence.

He reported progress in case digitization and barcoding. An e-filing framework is being developed for the Supreme Court, high courts, and district judiciary to facilitate lawyers and the public.

It is noteworthy that since 2015, Chief Justice Afridi has decided 613 death penalty appeals and thousands of bail applications, emphasizing the continuity of judicial reforms.
