Islamabad: (RightNow) Under the Prime Minister’s Petrol Relief Scheme, 6 lakh SMS were received from Islamabad, with 42,933 registrations completed. This scheme provides fuel subsidies to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws, and vehicles up to 800cc.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed relief for low-income groups amid rising petroleum prices. SMS registration for the scheme is free, and the relief will commence nationwide on September 16.

The Prime Minister instructed the administration to remain active in guiding the public. Public representatives and volunteers are also directed to assist in this guidance.

It is noteworthy that under this scheme, motorcycle and rickshaw users will receive a weekly fuel relief of Rs 500, while vehicles up to 800cc will receive Rs 1000 every 10 days. Only four basic pieces of information are required for registration.

Meanwhile, the Economic Coordination Committee has approved a grant of Rs 75 billion. This scheme is designated for non-commercial users, and each user can avail relief for only one vehicle.
