Islamabad: (RightNow). The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved the Prime Minister’s fuel relief package. The meeting, chaired by the Finance Minister, also sanctioned a technical supplementary grant of 75 billion rupees.

Under the fuel relief scheme, motorcycle and rickshaw users will receive a weekly relief of 500 rupees. Owners of vehicles up to 800cc will get a fuel relief of 1000 rupees every 10 days.

According to the statement, the fuel relief scheme will be available only for non-commercial users. A user or owner can claim relief for only one vehicle. A digital fuel pass system will be introduced for transparency.

These measures aim to provide relief to low-income groups following the increase in petroleum product prices. The Ministry of IT will develop the digital system.

It is noteworthy that the ECC has also permitted the export of 2 lakh metric tons of additional sugar. Additionally, approval was granted for purchasing 15 bulletproof vehicles for the SCO meeting.
