Karachi: (RightNow) The Japanese Film Festival 2026 has commenced in Karachi. The festival is jointly organized by the Japanese Consulate in Karachi, the Pakistan Japan Cultural Association Sindh, and the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi.

The festival aims to bring Japanese culture, art, and stories to Pakistani audiences. The opening ceremony featured the screening of the Japanese animated film ‘Children of the Sea,’ which garnered significant interest from attendees.

A total of 6 Japanese films, including ‘Children of the Sea,’ will be showcased during the festival. These films will be screened at various locations in Karachi throughout September, allowing audiences to explore Japan’s diverse stories and culture.

At the opening ceremony, the Japanese Consul General thanked the participants and highlighted the cultural significance of cinema. He expressed hope that the film festival would serve as a meaningful platform for interactions.

It is noteworthy that the Japanese Film Festival 2026 aims to strengthen cultural ties between the people of both countries. The festival is organized with the support of the Japanese Consulate and the Japan Foundation.
