Islamabad: (RightNow) The Ministry of Energy reports that electricity production is affected due to the unavailability of RLNG (Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas) cargo. This shortage has led to temporary load management during nighttime.

The Ministry’s spokesperson stated that the absence of RLNG has resulted in a 3600 MW shortfall in electricity production. Additionally, Mangla Dam’s output has decreased by 195 MW, adding pressure to the power supply.

According to the Power Division, temporary load management of 1.5 to 3 hours is being implemented during peak nighttime hours. Furnace oil power plants have been activated to meet electricity demand.

The spokesperson further mentioned that temporary load management will reduce once RLNG cargo arrives. The Power Division is also awaiting RLNG cargo to improve electricity supply.

It is important to note that the Ministry of Energy has urged consumers to use electricity moderately at night, while no load management is being conducted nationwide during the day.
