Turkey: (RightNow) Archaeologists have discovered an 11,000-year-old stone sculpture in southeastern Turkey. The sculpture depicts a human figure riding on a leopard, offering new insights into ancient human settlements.

Reports indicate the discovery was made near the city of Sanliurfa at Karahantepe during excavation. The sculpture measures 70 centimeters in length and is considered a comprehensive piece.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that the sculpture was found on a bench along the wall of a 3-meter diameter structure, with a floor made of flat stones.

This discovery is part of Turkey’s Heritage to the Future project, aimed at enhancing archaeological research and preservation nationwide. It may reveal new dimensions of human history.

It is noteworthy that this project continues to excavate and preserve ancient sites in Turkey, highlighting the importance of historical and cultural heritage.
