Lahore: (RightNow). Initial results of the wildlife survey in Punjab have been released, documenting the numbers of birds, reptiles, and plants. The survey recorded populations of Punjab Urial, Chinkara, Indus River Dolphin, Nilgai, Hog Deer, and Blackbuck.

According to the survey, there are 5,128 Punjab Urials, 1,276 Chinkaras, and 540 Indus River Dolphins. Among birds, 92,636 Grey Partridges and 40,526 Black Partridges were counted.

Government officials state that the final survey results will be released to the public soon. Preparations for the second phase of the wildlife survey are underway, which will include further verification.

This survey is conducted in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature Pakistan and the Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department. Its aim is to scientifically assess the population and habitat of wildlife.

It is noteworthy that this project began in April 2025 with a cost of 530 million rupees. Modern technology such as GPS and drones was used during the survey.
