Sicily: (RightNow) Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano located in Sicily, Italy, is spewing lava and ash. Thousands of tourists are flocking to witness its spectacular sights.

According to media reports, Mount Etna’s current activity is extraordinary, continuing for seven consecutive days. Although similar activities have been observed in the past, this phase is prolonged.

The Director of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Catania stated that magma is rising from deeper levels. Currently, the lava flow poses no threat to the population.

The volcanic activity has increased tourist influx, causing traffic and disorder. Local guides have urged people to stay in safe areas.

It is noteworthy that volcanic ash has affected flights at Catania Airport. Mount Etna is one of the world’s active volcanoes and a significant landmark of Sicily.
