Israeli PM Netanyahu calls the UK ‘Islamic Republic’, sparking international attention.
Tel Aviv: (RightNow) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has labeled the UK as the ‘Islamic Republic of Britain’ in an Army Radio podcast interview. Netanyahu’s sarcastic remark has garnered international attention.
Israeli media reported that Netanyahu praised the role of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s family during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. He noted that Israel received positive coverage at that time.
Netanyahu further stated that such coverage is no longer seen in the UK, which he referred to as the ‘Islamic Republic of Britain’. The interview also touched on the situation in Europe.
In response to a question, he said that the whole of Europe has become similar. Netanyahu added that efforts are being made to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear Islamic state.
