The government plans to set up a special cell to monitor officials’ social media activities, operational in 1-2 months.
Islamabad: (RightNow) The government has decided to establish a special cell to monitor the social media activities of government officials. This decision was made in light of unnecessary publicity by officials.
According to the Establishment Division, the social media monitoring cell will become operational within one to two months. An employee of grade 17 will be appointed as the supervisor of this cell.
A report on the restrictions on social media use by government employees has been presented to the standing committee. Under the new regulations, officials will not be allowed to use their accounts for personal publicity.
This decision was taken by the Establishment Division following the misuse of social media by government officials. This initiative aims to make the activities of government officials more transparent.
It is noteworthy that instructions for monitoring social media activities of officials were issued previously, but this new monitoring cell will enforce stricter compliance.
