Azad Kashmir: (RightNow) A significant phase for government formation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir is set for August 10. In the initial two phases, Pakistan Muslim League (N) holds a clear lead over the People’s Party.

Elections will be held for 11 seats in the Poonch Division, crucial for the new legislative assembly. These elections, scheduled for August 10, 2026, will play a key role in government formation.

The Poonch Division includes four districts where 208 candidates are contesting, with over 1.154 million registered voters. Major cities like Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, and Poonch are expected to witness intense competition.

In Bagh and Haveli’s 4 constituencies, 82 candidates will compete, while in Poonch and Sudhanoti’s 7 constituencies, 126 candidates will participate. These constituencies range from LA-14 to LA-24.

It is noteworthy that in the first phase, the Muslim League won 9 seats in the Mirpur Division, and in the second phase, secured 15 seats in Muzaffarabad. The People’s Party won 10 seats in the first two phases.
