Muzaffarabad: (RightNow) Tariq Farooq of PML-N has been elected as the Speaker of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

During the speaker election in the Azad Kashmir Assembly, Tariq Farooq secured 32 votes, while PPP’s Chaudhry Qasim Majeed managed only 14 votes.

In the deputy speaker election, PML-N’s Ahmad Raza Qadri also won with 32 votes, defeating opponent Amir Ghaffar Lone who received 14 votes.

PML-N won 31 seats in the Azad Kashmir Assembly, while PPP secured 14 seats. PML-N’s alliance increased their seats to 32.

It is noteworthy that in this term, elections were held for 8 reserved seats in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly, with PML-N winning 6 and PPP securing 2.
