Lahore: (RightNow) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has rejected the proposal to impose charges on bottled water. She has instructed relevant authorities to ensure the supply of clean water to the public at their doorstep.

In a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, the ongoing clean drinking water pilot project in four districts was reviewed. It was reported that 864 water filtration plants are under construction, with work on an additional 1,913 plants to commence soon.

The Chief Minister requested daily reports on the pilot project and directed the Deputy Commissioners of Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Khushab to gather public feedback. The meeting was informed that 10 thousand 19-liter bottles are being provided free of charge in the four districts.

The Chief Minister stated that delivering clean drinking water to the public’s doorstep is her commitment. She emphasized that every citizen of Punjab has the right to access clean water, and where it is not available, bottled water will be provided.

It is noteworthy that instructions have been given to complete 1,886 water filtration plant projects across the province soon. Proposals for establishing bottling plants and distribution points were also reviewed.
