Lahore: (RightNow) The Punjab government has set a new release price for wheat at Rs 3,800 per maund. This announcement was made through a notification by the Department of Food Safety and Consumer Protection following approval from the Punjab Cabinet.

Officials state that the aim of this move is to ensure uninterrupted supply of wheat and flour in the province. The government is striving to maintain price stability.

The Punjab government has been directed by the federal government to purchase wheat from PASCO immediately. Initially, approval has been given to supply 3 lakh metric tons of wheat.

This initiative is an attempt to provide relief to citizens affected by inflation. The government has issued effective monitoring instructions to ensure the availability of bread at Rs 15.

It is noteworthy that the Punjab government had requested a total supply of 8 lakh metric tons of wheat. In comparison, 5 lakh 33 thousand 440 metric tons have been allocated.
