Lahore: (RightNow) Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirms commitment to minority rights on National Minorities Day, stating that Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan is a homeland for all, where every citizen is safe and free. She emphasizes the protection of minority freedoms and rights.

Maryam Nawaz pays tribute to minority communities, calling them the beauty of society. She asserts that their dignity, honor, and development will not be compromised. She announces the introduction of the Minority Card by the Punjab government for the first time.

The Chief Minister states that the policy to grant full rights to education, development, and welfare to minority communities continues. For the first time in history, the Sikh Marriage Act 2024 and Hindu Marriage Act 2017 have been approved.

She further mentions that access to education, health, and employment for minorities in Punjab is being facilitated. Scholarships for minority students and live courses in Yohannabad have also been initiated.

It is noteworthy that Baisakhi, Holi, Diwali, Christmas, and Easter are celebrated officially in Punjab. The government is committed to safeguarding minority rights and ensuring their rightful share.
