Srinagar: (RightNow) The Indian government has intensified operations in occupied Kashmir following the killing of a police officer. Indian forces have arrested thousands of Kashmiris and demolished two houses with explosives.

According to Kashmir Media Service, large-scale raids were conducted in Anantnag after the police officer’s murder. Turkish news agency TRT also confirmed the arrest of thousands of Kashmiris.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed anger over the arrests, stating that such actions by India have been seen before. Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also criticized the Modi government.

Amnesty International reports that the Indian government has increased repression and human rights violations. These actions are attempts to suppress the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
