Kabul: (RightNow) Severe floods have wreaked havoc in northeastern Afghanistan. Various incidents have resulted in 20 deaths and over 80 injuries. More than 100 people are missing due to the floodwaters.

The floods that hit Nuristan province on Monday caused widespread damage. According to officials, 20 people have died, and over 100 are missing.

In the provincial capital Parun, shops along the riverbank are completely submerged in mud. The floods have severely impacted the local economy.

Afghanistan’s disaster agency has recovered 20 bodies so far, and over 80 injured individuals have been transported to hospitals. Nuristan and Parun are the most affected areas.

It is noteworthy that Nuristan borders Pakistan, and more rain is forecasted for the region. Residents are advised to stay away from riverbanks.
