Boston: (RightNow) A new study reveals that exercising one or two days a week can significantly benefit heart health. The research indicates a reduction in heart disease and stroke risks among weekend exercisers.

According to the study, individuals unable to exercise throughout the week can still achieve positive heart effects by exercising during the weekend. These results are quite similar to those who exercise regularly.

Dr. Patrick Ellinor stated that exercising one or two days a week can be beneficial for the heart, provided the overall physical activity meets the recommended levels. Health experts advise adults to engage in 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise weekly.

It is important to note that the study analyzed medical records of 90,000 individuals. The findings showed that one-third of participants did not meet the 150-minute weekly exercise goal, while 42% completed it over the weekend.

Remember, weekend exercisers experienced a 27% reduction in heart attack risk and a 38% reduction in heart failure risk. Regular exercisers saw even greater risk reductions.
