Islamabad: (Right Now News) The State Bank has issued new guidelines for the virtual asset sector. According to these guidelines, licensed entities are now permitted to open bank accounts.

These guidelines were issued under BPRD Circular Letter No. 10 of 2026. Previously, the 2018 circular had banned transactions through virtual currencies or tokens, but now licensed entities are allowed limited banking.

The State Bank has instructed banks to verify the licenses of the relevant entities and conduct thorough checks. Risk assessment and continuous monitoring are also mandatory.

Pakistan has taken an important step toward formalizing its virtual asset ecosystem. Following the enactment of the Virtual Assets Act, 2026, the State Bank of Pakistan has issued BPRD Circular Letter No. 10 of 2026, enabling regulated entities to open and maintain bank accounts.

It should be noted that the new policy does not grant full freedom but provides regulated access to offer limited banking facilities to licensed virtual asset providers.
