London: (Right Now News) A BBC News investigation has revealed that some legal advisers and immigration assistants in the UK are helping migrants create fake gay asylum cases. These individuals are provided with fabricated stories and fake evidence to continue their stay in the UK.

The report states that fees ranging from 1,500 to 7,000 pounds were charged for such fake cases. Allegedly, offers were made to provide photos, supporting letters, and other evidence.

The British Home Office has stated that those abusing the system will face legal action and may be deported. The government maintains that the asylum system operates under strict scrutiny and protection is only given to those genuinely at risk.

Data from the British Home Office included in the report shows that in 2023, Pakistan topped the list with 578 asylum applications based on sexual orientation, followed by Bangladesh with 175 and Nigeria with 103 applications.

It is noted that most individuals involved in these cases came on student, work, or visit visas. Upon visa expiration, they attempted to misuse the asylum system. BBC has raised questions about the role of community groups and some advisers, with some denying the allegations and announcing internal investigations. It is important to note that in countries like Pakistan and Bangladesh, same-sex relationships are criminalized, which can create issues for genuine victims.
