London: (RightNow) A 15-foot python at a UK zoo received advanced cancer treatment, typically used for humans. This is considered the world’s first such case.

At Chester Zoo, a 23-year-old female snake named after Jodie Foster, weighing approximately 50 kilograms, showed health concerns when it reduced its food intake.

Medical examination revealed a dangerous cancer called fibrosarcoma in its jaw. Initially, surgery removed the tumor, but cancer reappeared after some time.

To save the snake, experts used electrochemotherapy. The procedure lasted about 90 minutes, requiring two operating tables to be joined.

It is noteworthy that months after the treatment, the snake has returned to its active nature, with recent examinations showing no signs of cancer recurrence. Experts plan to publish details of this unique treatment.
