Islamabad: (RightNow) The federal government decides to complete four National Highway Authority (NHA) projects through public-private partnership. An agreement has been reached between NHA and the Privatization Commission.

In a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, a proposal was presented to complete the 169-kilometer-long sector of Motorway M10 under the public-private partnership model. Prime Minister’s Advisor on Privatization, Muhammad Ali, was also present at the meeting.

Abdul Aleem Khan stated the intention to connect the Mansehra, Naran, Jalkhand, and Chilas motorways to the Chinese border. The Guru Nanak Expressway for the Sikh community could also be constructed under this model.

The Federal Minister for Communications mentioned that the increase in NHA’s revenue is encouraging, and the organization is moving towards financial autonomy. There is a desire to make NHA a 500 to 1000 billion rupee institution.

It is noteworthy that the meeting also discussed extending the Sialkot, Kharian Motorway M12, and Murree Expressway to Kashmir. Abdul Aleem Khan instructed NHA officials to prepare a business plan.
