Hafizabad: (RightNow) Punjab Food Authority conducted an operation against 5 major food chains at the M-2 Motorway Sukhiki Interchange. Four outlets were sealed, and a fine of Rs 3.5 million was imposed.

The Food Authority disposed of over 1 maund of substandard food. The operation was supervised by Special Assistant Salma Butt and Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmed.

Salma Butt stated that freezers and washing areas were found dirty, and hygiene arrangements were inadequate. Legal documents were also missing.

According to the Punjab Food Authority, bakery products lacked manufacturing and expiry dates. There was an infestation of insects and a poor environment was observed.

It is noteworthy that under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a zero-tolerance policy against adulteration is ongoing. There is a commitment to prevent substandard food from reaching the market.
