Government agencies report Rs 342 billion deficit; NHA leads with Rs 124.7 billion.
Islamabad: (RightNow). From July to December 2025, government agencies faced a total deficit of Rs 342.8 billion. The National Highway Authority (NHA) topped the list with a deficit of Rs 124.7 billion.
The government provided Rs 804 billion in financial support to deficit-ridden agencies, marking a 31% increase from the previous year. This aid aimed to alleviate financial burdens.
According to the report, the average deficit of 23 state-owned enterprises in the first half of the previous fiscal year was Rs 342.8 billion. This deficit poses a significant challenge to the national economy.
In contrast, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) earned a profit of Rs 73 billion, securing the top position. This reflects the company’s success.
It is noteworthy that the issue of deficits in government agencies has persisted for several years, impacting financial stability.
