ECNEC approves Rs 1.15 trillion for 16 projects, including Lahore-Bahawalnagar Motorway, crucial for the economy.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, ECNEC has approved 16 development projects worth Rs 1.15 trillion. These include the Lahore-Bahawalnagar Motorway and the Tarbela Fifth Extension Project.
The approved projects have seen a cost increase of approximately Rs 320 billion due to delays and rising prices. The first package of the Lahore-Sahiwal-Bahawalnagar Motorway will be completed at Rs 49 billion, funded by the federal government.
ECNEC has approved a 282% cost increase for the Tarbela Fifth Extension Project, while the revised cost of the Khwaza Khela-Besham Expressway has been approved at Rs 116.6 billion.
These projects will play a crucial role in the country’s development and infrastructure, strengthening the economy and providing better travel facilities to the public.
It is noteworthy that ECNEC has decided to seek assistance from international financial institutions and federal funding for these projects.
