Islamabad: (RightNow) Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb states that protest sit-ins are causing a daily economic loss of Rs 120 billion. He expressed that talks of marches and strikes in such conditions are beyond comprehension.

In a press conference, Aurangzeb revealed that the economic impact was estimated in collaboration with the Planning Commission’s Economic Wing. The overall daily loss across various sectors is feared to be Rs 120 billion.

The services sector is expected to suffer the most, with financial services, communications, transport, and hospitality among the affected areas. The industrial sector is also predicted to incur a daily loss of Rs 25 billion.

The agricultural sector is expected to face a daily loss of Rs 9 billion, while tax revenue may decrease by approximately Rs 17 billion. IT exports could also be impacted.

It is noteworthy that the Finance Minister has declared economic stability as the government’s top priority. He mentioned that the export target is $32.9 billion, and foreign exchange reserves are at a historic high.
