Islamabad: (RightNow) Over Rs 1.5 billion was generated from Markhor trophy hunting across Pakistan between 2023 and 2025. Federal Minister Musadik Malik submitted a written response in the Senate detailing the figures.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan, trophy hunting generated over Rs 1.38 billion. Meanwhile, legal hunting in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa brought in $1.594 million.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, Rs 620 million was earned from hunting Markhor and wild goats over two years. In Balochistan, Sulaiman Markhor hunting generated Rs 760 million.

The Federal Minister stated that 80% of the income from legal hunting is given to local communities, while 20% goes to provincial wildlife departments. The federal government does not receive any revenue from this program.

It is important to note that legal hunting requires a permit from the government and wildlife departments. This income is used for the conservation of Markhor and their habitats.
