Google’s Weather Next 3 AI model revolutionizes weather forecasting with improved storm and rain details.
California: (RightNow) Google has introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI) model, ‘Weather Next 3’, for weather forecasting. This model will provide detailed local weather forecasts with high speed and resolution.
Weather Next 3 will release hourly updates. It will monitor storms, rain, and severe weather conditions in greater detail, enhancing forecast accuracy.
Google states that the new model can forecast with a spatial resolution of up to 5 kilometers. It is five times more detailed than the previous model and will predict surface temperature, humidity, and winds at various resolutions.
Weather Next 3 will also improve rain forecasts. On some key metrics, the error rate has decreased by 50% compared to traditional forecasts, marking a significant advancement.
It is noteworthy that Google’s model uses live data from satellites and ground stations. Weather Next 3 can also be utilized in the clean energy sector, assisting power system operators and renewable energy producers.
