Lahore High Court demands response on load shedding case by September 15, affecting public rights.
Lahore: (RightNow) Lahore High Court has conducted a hearing on the electricity and gas load shedding issue. The court has requested a response regarding load shedding by September 15.
During the hearing, the court questioned whether the intra-court appeal against the single bench’s decision was filed on time. Lawyer Azhar Siddique stated that the appeal was filed within 20 days.
Lawyer Azhar Siddique informed the court that the penalty was not paid as it would imply accepting the lower court’s decision. He requested that the penalty payment not be a condition for hearing the appeal.
Azhar Siddique mentioned that the load shedding issue concerns the fundamental rights of millions, affecting the public, children, businesses, and industries. The court was requested to summon relevant records.
It is noteworthy that the Judicial Activism Panel has requested the case be heard on merit to ensure the protection of fundamental rights.
