Greg Chappell raises concerns over Imran Khan’s health and isolation in prison, urging for medical care.
Sydney: (RightNow) Former Australian captain Greg Chappell has expressed concern over Imran Khan’s isolation and health in prison. The 78-year-old stated that Imran Khan’s physical condition is deteriorating and he is no longer as strong as before.
Imran Khan has been in prison since 2023 on corruption charges, which he denies. Greg Chappell mentioned that Imran Khan has developed a disability in his right eye and is struggling.
Chappell further stated that keeping Imran Khan in isolation is affecting his mental health. He is not allowed to read books and spends most of his time in darkness.
Greg Chappell has written to the Prime Minister of Pakistan requesting an independent medical assessment and proper medical care for Imran Khan. The letter has also been signed by Sunil Gavaskar and other former cricketers.
It is worth noting that Imran Khan served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022 and led Pakistan to victory in the 1992 World Cup. He is considered one of the best all-rounders in Pakistan’s cricket history.
