Pakistan made a comeback from a two-goal deficit. Abubakar could not captain due to injury, with Moin Shakeel leading instead.

Rana Waheed scored 2 goals, while Hammad-ud-Din and Hanan Shahid each scored one. This is Pakistan’s first Hockey World Cup victory in 6,017 days.

It is noteworthy that Pakistan last defeated Spain in 2010. The national team did not qualify for the 2014, 2018, and 2023 World Cups.
