Messi confirmed his retirement on Monday, stating that the decision was very difficult for him, but he believes the time has come. He scored 8 goals in the World Cup and also received the Silver Ball award.

The final between Argentina and Spain was tied, but Ferran Torres’ goal in extra time secured victory for Spain. Messi made history by playing in three World Cup finals and led Argentina to victory in 2022.

Messi mentioned that continuing his football career became challenging after his father’s passing. His father passed away on August 8 at the age of 68.
